About the index
COLOPHON / §01/EST. 2024 — LISBON

An independent desk
for the people who pick
the tools.

A field guide for choosing UI foundations. UI Kits is a small editorial project: a working index of frameworks teams use to ship interfaces, kept honest by a public methodology and a manual review process.

§ 02

Manifesto

FIVE LINES, NO MORE
  1. I.An index is more useful than an opinion. We build the index.
  2. II.We do not rank by hype. We rank by what’s shipped.
  3. III.Marketing copy is rewritten. Numbers are verified against the source tree.
  4. IV.If a framework is no longer maintained, we move it to the cold storage list. Quietly.
  5. V.Submissions are free. Always.
§ 03

How we got here

  1. 2024 Q1

    First draft

Twelve frameworks, hand-typed into a working document by two people.

  2. 2024 Q3

    Open to the public

Site launches with sixteen entries and a simple submission form.

  3. 2025 Q2

    Comparison tool

Side-by-side compare ships after readers ask which one is the right pick.

  4. 2026 Q1

    The system goes public

We extract the design language and publish it as a stand-alone page.

§ 05

Common questions

Q.01Why frameworks only — what about icons or templates?+

Different problem, different shelf. A separate template index comes after this one is useful.

Q.02Do you accept paid placements?+

Not in ranking. Sponsorships must be labelled and never affect methodology.

Q.03How do you measure component count?+

We count exported public components and ignore internal or experimental pieces.

Q.04Can I suggest a correction?+

Yes. Submit a kit or correction and the editors review it in the weekly pass.
